Hamilton resident Michael McEachern has created the magic for 25 years and will have some of his work on display at Art Focus for Hamilton Tonight, Friday, Oct. 13. He will show his images through vintage stereoscope viewers and answer questions.
McEachern enjoys shooting stereo views and has belonged to several different groups over the years including the National Stereoscopic Association (NSA) that meets yearly to display member works.
“You need a special viewer to look at it and either a special technique or special camera to make the image,” McEachern said. “I used a dual lens camera for the ‘Alien Abduction’ series. The story is told from the cat’s point of view and you need to read the titles before looking at each image. One of the photos had to be taken with a remote because cats in the wild are skittish.”
“We have collections of stereo views from different photographers throughout the country that we’ve collected this throughout the years,” McEachern said.
Visit Art Focus at 215 W Main St, on Friday, Oct. 13, for Hamilton Tonight and a personal 3-D experience.
