In our technology, a lenticular lens is used (better precision and more brightness than the alternative “parallax-barrier”) which is actually switchable. The switchable lenticular lens can be switched off, which means it acts as a 100% neutral, invisible layer, without disturbing the original panel resolution or pixels. A common problem with alternative technologies and products is that 2D viewing is only possible with reduced quality, mostly this makes such products completely unusable for normal usage, such as browsing, e-mailing etc. etc. Fortunately this is not the case with the FutureBook glasses-free 3D laptop; you will not see any loss of resolution or quality, 2D is purely 100% Full HD, without any compromises. On top of that our patented technology even allows only partial switching of the display area, so it’s possible to have a 3D-enabled window, with a movie playing, while the rest of the screen is untouched full HD 2D. Stereoscopic lens design, no conversion needed Another important aspect is that our lenticular lens is based on 2-views, which exactly matches all available 3D content (so called “stereo 3D”). Most products have lenses or filters that are based on 5, 7, 8, 9, 12 or even 28 views. These products have problems viewing stereoscopic (standard) 3D content by design. In all these cases, the stereoscopic 3D needs to be converted to so called multiview 3D, e.g. by trying to calculate a so called depth/disparity map. In ALL cases this results in loss of 3D effect and quality, errors in the image will always be visible, damaging the overall experience. The patented 2-view lens of the FutureBook glasses-free 3D notebook is able to show stereoscopic content without any conversion, hence without any loss of quality or 3D perception. Face-tracking for optimal 3D viewing Just having a switchable 2-view based lenticular lens is not enough because normally this would result in what we call “fixed point 3D”. Fixed point 3D means that your head/eyes require to be at an exact, fixed position relative to the 3D display, we see this with many cheap low-end 3D tablets and gaming devices. The FutureBook 3D glasses-free laptop solves this problem using a patented head-tracking algorithm. An embedded camera basically follows the position of the user in front and adopts the 3D image to this in real-time. The result is that the viewer can move freely in front of the 3D notebook, while keeping the same high quality 3D image. Playing games in real 3D, without the glasses The FutureBook includes special software that enables you to play your favourite games in real glasses-free 3D, using TriDef 3D Ignition. This is basically a DirectX game driver that will automatically render a stereoscopic image from the game in real time. The software currently supports over 880 PC games but also allow you to add games yourself by creating new profiles. The 3D stereo width as well as the 3D depth can be altered in real-time using hotkeys for your personal comfort. Get rid of those silly 3D glasses and experience your games in 3D with the naked eye.
