About the STEREO Mission - STEREO (Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory) is the third mission in NASA's Solar Terrestrial Probes program (
STP). It employs two nearly identical space-based observatories - one ahead of Earth in its orbit, the other trailing behind - to provide the first-ever stereoscopic measurements to study the Sun and the nature of its coronal mass ejections, or CMEs.

STEREO "First Light" Movies
These movies were released as part of the STEREO "First Light" Press Conference on April 23, 2007. STEREO's Extreme Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope captured these images of the sun March 17-27, 2007. STEREO can see the sun in several different wavelengths. Each wavelength allows scientists to view different temperatures and features on the sun.
