What it is
The Canon RF Dual Fisheye is a single lens containing two 5.2mm fisheye optics spaced at roughly human eye distance, mounted on a full-frame Canon RF body to capture a stereo pair in one exposure.
Strengths
- Perfect synchronization — both circles are exposed by the same sensor at the exact same instant
- Compact single-lens setup compared to twin-camera rigs
- Native compatibility with Apple's spatial video and VR180 pipelines
Limitations
Fixed interocular spacing means no adjustment for close-up macro-style stereo work. Resolution per eye is also lower than a full-frame single-lens shot, since the sensor is split between two circular images.
It's a specialized tool — general photography and video work still calls for a standard lens.
